Cock fighting in Kuta Bali

By Nick | April 24th, 2003 | 8 Comments »

Here in Kuta today I could feel the humidity building and knew rain was coming. Arriving in Kuta I visited Internet Outpost on Poppies II. Walking through to Poppies I passed a large group of men who were getting very excited. It was the start of a cock fight.

Frisbee game in Seminyak Bali

By Nick | April 18th, 2003 | 1 Comment »

Riding towards downtown today I rode down Jalan Drupadi and passed a playing field where a large group of Yanks were indulging in a game of frisbee football. I saw some great chases and particularly remember one tackle between 2 ladies that made me wince.

Getting out there in Ubud Bali

By Nick | April 13th, 2003 | 5 Comments »

Saturday afternoon for me was spent exploring some of the internet cafes and shops in Ubud. The town is in the hills NE of Kuta and I had to ride through the capital Denpasar to get here.

Afternoon in Ubud Bali

By Nick | April 12th, 2003 | 2 Comments »

I rode my motorbike from Seminyak to Ubud and it went pretty smooth. The 20 miles took about 2 hours due to the traffic and getting caught in Denpasar’s one way system which can be quite confusing. I wore my polution mask and was glad I did as the levels of airborne [...]

Motorcycle riding in Bali isn't something I've really thought of as pleasureable except for a trip down to Ulu Watu one time. My friend Mick Turnbull who works as an engineer for Cathay Pacific invited me on a ’slow ride in the mountains’ and I couldn’t resist. Mick has been here for a year [...]

Riding to Tanah Lot, Bali

By Nick | March 9th, 2003 | 4 Comments »

Riding to Tanah Lot on Sunday afternoon is a combination of pleasure and frustration. I took Jalan Raya Kerobokan from my house in Seminyak past the Global Extreme internet cafe and turned right onto the Canggu road past the Globe Cafe. There are signs all along the route and I ended up [...]

Trip to Ulu Watu

By Nick | February 16th, 2003 | 7 Comments »

Today I decided that Internet Outpost wasn't where I wanted to spend my Sunday, I spend most other days here and felt like a change. The choice for adventure was Ulu Watu, the famous surf spot on the western tip of that chunk of land that sticks out at the southern end of Bali. [...]

Kuta to Seminyak to Kuta

By Nick | February 13th, 2003 | 1 Comment »

I finished a bunch of e-mails today and went down to the bomb site to get more details for the map I’m making. This will be a part of the interviews I’m doing and will give people an idea of what went on where. The tricky thing is that some buildings are [...]
