Danish Consulate to stay open in Bali

Denmark has closed its Embassy in Jakarta due to threats from an extremist group. The cartoons of Prophet Mohammed have stirred up passions around the world and the local loonies don’t want to be left out. Indonesian politicians are saying there is no need for that, but its not their neck.

The cartoons of Prophet Mohammed have become more famous than the Mona Lisa. Religious fanatics around the world have seized on this and used it as a lightening rod for their personal tensions. The BBC website reports that protests have spread to Indonesia’s second biggest city, Surabaya, in E. Java.
