Some of the slow changes that occur in Bali, are often more apparent to tourists than those of us who live here. Here are a few things I have noticed recently.

Galungan is in progress in Bali and chatting with staff at Cafe Seminyak, I heard that some of them were able to go home to their village yesterday, some today. Sitting here in an internet cafe in Seminyak, the staff are all in traditional outfits.

This evening I am hoping to interview Dallas Finn, founder of Bali Peace Park, about the gay scene here in Bali (won’t that be exciting!). Dallas suggested we meet at Poser’s Pub in Legian, the location of our last interview. My thoughts were this was not an ideal location.

Saturday morning I got Jevon into his disposable diaper, short, shoes, and took him down the street for a coffee. Actually he doesn’t like coffee, but ever since he’s been around, we have both been going down to Cafe Seminyak once in a while.

Bali is celebrating Galungan today and many people will be heading back to their village, for family ceremonies. This morning at Cafe Seminyak the staff were decked out in sarongs and kebayas and this young lady to me she was off to Karangasem, in East Bali as soon as she finished work.
