The Kuta area has a ton of warungs serving a combination of western and Indonesian food. There are also warungs, like Warung Indonesia on Gang Ronta between Poppies I & II, that serve just Indonesian food. You can find some great food in these places and my favourites are well documented (Warung Gossip, Warung Nikmat, Warung Mimpi). Ika and I have started frequenting another great place on Jl. Double Six in Seminyak called Warung Murah. Murah means cheap and for us westerners it is very affordable.
The place looks nothing special form the outside and I would not have even ventured in had it not been for Ika recommending it. The place is open all day and serves food from the plates in the window, padang style and from some heated metal canteen-style trays. The food is great and I just love their chicken, which falls of the bone. They also do potatoes, which taste great. A lot of surfers like this joint and for a good hearty hot meal you cannot beat it. My meal today included chicken, potatoes, vegetable and tuna for 14,000rp.
Warung Murah is located on the right side of the street heading to the beach and is about 120 meters from the beach.
