Thursday afternoon I rode down to Hotel Baleka on Jl. Padma Utara (Padma north) in Legian. I checked out this Balinese owned hotel, which has been in operation since 1975. My guide was Mr. Ngurah D. Putra, the General Manager. Ngurah is a software engineer turned hotel manager, since his family owns the Baleka. One of his ideas he has put into practice is to create a database of guest profiles, so that the staff can best serve repeat customers. That is hands on management. The name of the hotel means Bali Legian Kaja, the area where it is located and the hotel caters largely to Australian families wanting an affordable downtown option.
During my taped interview I saw Dallas Finn strolling through the front door. Oh no, was my first thought as Dallas is famous for creating a party wherever he goes. Dallas had company and on my inspection of the pool area saw that he was cavorting with his friends. Okay, 1,2,3, Schapelle is innocent, I said. No she is guilty, replied Dallas, only to be admonished by a large lady poolside. I tell you it does not take much to get people going! The Baleka is a cozy little place and the great thing about it is the owner / manager is hands on, ensuring a pleasant, friendly atmosphere. The hotel is a 5-minute walk to the beach, in the heart of the shopping, restaurant scene in Legian. A great place to take a family if you are on a budget.

Hey Dallas have you “turned” ?? Guess we don’t have to fight over any one any more!! ha ha
i had a very bad experience earlier this year with baleka beach resort. the cleaners tried to break into our suitcases by drilling a hole in the padlocks, they were generally unfriendly, there are cobwebs in every corner and all under the beds which was disgusting and they didnt let us empty the fridge to use it then they charged us for what we did drink when we were going to replace them due to the lack of space in there. very very dissapointed and we generally had an unsafe feeling for our whole trip becasue there was people flashing torches in our window at odd hours of the night and had strange phone calls in the early hours of the morning. i highly recomend staying somewhere else.
oh also they left us stranded in kintamani while we were on their “free” tour.
woww.. that looks like a great place.. hmm.. can i know the rates nick??
