Ubud: Nyuhkuning to the south

Nyuhkuning is located at the bottom end of Ubud, on the south side of Monkey Forest. You get to Nyuhkuning from Ubud in 2 ways, 1. go through Monkey Forest, 2. take Jl. Hanuman as far as it goes south and keep going straight, swinging right at Pengosekan.

According to my guidebook, “Nyuhkuning stretches south from the Monkey Forest. It is peaceful and still fairly rural, offering lots of uninterrupted paddy-field views while still being just a pleasant 10 minute walk from the shops and restaurants at the southern end of Monkey Forest Rd. The one drawback is that you need to walk through Monkey Forest after dark if you’re going into central Ubud in the evening.”

You can almost miss Nyuhkuning altogether and the one place that I have visited is Linda Garland Estate, which looks wonderful. If I was going to outside of Ubud I would definitely have my own transport. There other places to stay in Nyuhkuning, including Alam Jiwa (0361) 977462, Bali Spirit (0361) 974013, Garden View Cottages (0361) 974055, Swasti Hideaway Nyuhkuning (0361) 974079.

All these places are spendy, the cheapest being Swasti Hideaway Nyuhkuning.

Nick,

When first come out of Monkey Forest to get to Nyuhkuning, is there still a 3 story, open air bamboo structure that sells sodas and “monkey cocktails”?

If so, do you know the name of that place?
