Tuban beach on a sunny day
Stepping through Discovery Shopping Mall from Jl. Kartika Plaza, one could be anywhere in the world, London, Singapore, Jakarta. Stepping out the other side, one immediately realizes this is not London! Kuta Bay curves round, swinging past Kuta Beach to the right of the picture, and down towards the airport. If you really wanted to you could could walk from a Kuta guest house down the beach and get pretty close to the airport, a novel way of leaving.
With the scorching sun turning retired Dutch people into lizards, I headed for shade and like a lizard tried not to move unnecessarily. This beach is quieter than Kuta beach because of the surfing conditions and because there is no shade. Great for a run or walk. You can catch boats to Kuta Reef from here, don’t forget your board.
