The Station surf shop: Kuta

pads111103.jpgOne of the many quality surf shops in Kuta is The Station. This 2-storey shop has a good assortment of gear ranging from rash-vests, t-shirts, Oakley sunnies and bags and surfboards. Some of the stuff is not the cheapest but its good. The Station is located on the corner of Jl. Legian and Poppies Lane II in Kuta. It was originally called Aloha Surf but was blown to bits by the Sari Club bomb in 2002 but has come back and is doing great business. If you are staying on Poppies Lane II this will be the first big surf shop you hit on your way up Jl. Legian. The second branch of The Station has recently opened at Discovery Shopping Mall on Jl. Kartika Plaza in Tuban which is great for those staying at the Dynasty or Green Garden. During the Bali bombimg my wife Ika and her sister Ningrum were in a taxi next to was is now The Station, on Poppies II. The solid cement walls prevented them from being injured even though they were 20 meters from the blast.

The board slection is a bit small but they have high quality accessories.

Relatively speaking Bali is safe. In this day and age who can tell where the next trouble will happen. People here feel pretty safe and you will enjoy the benefits of less tourists whn you come here, including less crowded streets, planes and more deals.
