The best 3 restaurants in Kuta

Kuta is so full of eating places that choice is never a problem.

Sorting out the bad places from the good places takes time and for those in Bali for a week you just don’t have the time.

In my quest to find the 3 best restaurants in Kuta my criteria were:

1) Handy location
2) Great food
3) Not overly expensive
4) Perfect for that romantic night out with a partner or fun night out with a friend.

Most people hit the warungs and budget places during the day, but for that place that’s offers a little bit more in the way of decor, service, food quality and a selection of cocktails and wine.

My 3 choices are Kori Restaurant on Poppies lane II, TJ’s mexican on Poppies Lane I and Papa’s Cafe on Jl. Pantai Kuta.

I have taken the time to visit all three places on more than one occassion and interview the managers of each.

My summary of Kori Restaurant is a classy but informal place located on Poppies Lane II serving a variety of Australian International cuisine. Manager Gary Hewson from Australia is a very good host and can be found on site many nights of the week. Live music and a great bar make this a great entertaining spot.

TJ’s mexican retaurant on Poppies I has been around since 1984 and is a Kuta tradition. The food is a California Mexican style which most people find easy to get used to. The setting is comfortable and great for families and groups. Jean the manager from San Francisco is a super cool lady and you might get to meet her on a weekend night.

Papa’s Cafe on Jl. Pantai Kuta comes via recommendations from other restaurant owners, and that says a lot. The food is Italian and aimed in a Italian family style, generous high quality portions in a beach side open air setting. Great for families or people wanting a great feed. David the general manager is a chef himself and told me he spends way too much time at the restaurant. Papa’s should be on your list of restaurants when you visit Bali.

TJ’s gets better with every visit!

Papa’s really does have the best pizza in Bali…(and a great place to be for sunset too)

Personal preference for third spot in top 3 restaurants…

Nagasari!!!! Meals are fantastic…menu extensive, entertainment is great, atmosphere is relaxed, warm and friendldy and service is top rate.

Nagasari is a must do for a great night out!
