Yesterday afternoon after returning to Kuta from the Discovery Mall, I stopped into good old Made’s Warung. This joint has been going since the 70’s and is famous with Bali visitors. Their menu includes, Indonesian, Balinese and western dishes. Running in I saw one of the bench seats next to the street was empty. Great! I though, I’ll sit here and check out the street life.
My bladder was already at exploding point so I walked to the rear and made a donation to the Kuta water table. Returning to the counter I asked for a Bintang and was told they only served Heineken. The price was 19,000rp, which I didn’t fancy. ‘Itu mahal’ I said, smiling. Oh well maybe next time. As I got close to the street the waiter raced up to me and asked for 3,000rp, for using the toliet. I hope he likes being on my website.
I can understand Made’s not wanting every swimsuit wearing ‘bule’ from the beach coming in, but I have used this restaurant a hundred times. Oh well, I paid and was good vibes about it, but remember, taking a lash can cost in some places.

i never liked this place, everytime i went there it was full of `un-cool` people trying hard to look like the kuta `in-crowd` it`s got that kind of image, even the staff were boring! kuta and bali should never be boring!
HELLO MY NAME IS ANGELA WE HAVE BEEN TO BALI EVERY YEAR SINCE 1999. WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD A PROBLEM WITH MADES WARUNG. WE WENT THERE IN 2003 & WERE TOLD WERE TO SIT BUT AS WE DIDNT LIKE SITTING ON BENCHES WE LEFT. THEN WE WENT THERE IN 2004 & LUCKILY 2 PEOPLE WERE LEAVING AS WE ENTERED SO WE ENDED UP GETTING A SMALL TABLE ON OUR OWN. THEY DO NOT SERVE BINTANG, THERES ABSOLUTELY NO HOSPITALITY WHATSOEVER & YES THEY CHARGE IF YOU NEED TO GO TO THE TOILET & HAVE JUST COME IN OFF THE STREET. WE THOUGHT THE FOOD WAS GREAT BUT WAS SEVERELY OVERPRICED, THERE WAS NO ATMOSPHERE. WE ONLY TRIED AGAIN IN SEPT 05 BECAUSE MY OTHER HALF LIKED THE FOOD SO MUCH. WE WERE IN THERE FOR NO MORE THAN 10 MINUTES WHEN THE WAITER WAS TELLING US WHERE WE HAD TO SIT, WE TOLD HIM WE WANTED TO SIT UPSTAIRS AS THERE WAS PLENTY OF ROOM AS NO ONE WAS UP THERE. HE TOLD US THAT IS FOR LARGER GROUPS, THE PROBLEM WAS THERE WAS ONLY HALF AN HOUR BEFORE CLOSING & THERE WAS NO WAY ALL THOSE TABLES WERE GOING TO BE FILLED. APART FROM THAT WE STRUCK ANOTHER RUDE WAITER WITH AN ATTITUDE PROBLEM SO WE PAID FOR OUR DRINKS THEN LEFT. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO MADES WARUNG IN KUTA. WE HAVE ALSO TRIED THE ONE IN SEMINYAK & THE TREATMENT IS COMPLETELY THE OPPOSITE.
Made’s Seminyak masih ada aloha !
This place is definately overated..The price and quality ,not to mention the lazy, boring, put on the fake smile staff.Pub Bagus is great for a feed and bloody cold one !
I used to like this place, but since I got such a bad experienced there, will never come back ever again. One night I had dinner there and I ordered “tipat cantok” which was pricy for the actual Tipat cantok supposed to be.Then I had such a bad cramp right after eat the meal, while struggling, the youngest son of the owner of warung Made (his name Raymond),walked by and I saw him yelling to this pretty “poor” girl,a costumer apparantly at the restaurant, calling her : hey u f***** hooker !! Oh my god I couldn`t believe what I hear. He was such a retarted…then the waiter whisper on us saying he takes drugs alot…thats why he`s crazy most of the time.
I just feel so sorry hw come this is could happen at the famous restaurant of Warung Made.
Anyway after tht the whole nite turned out I got food poison, such a bad stomach all nite long and the next day.
Definitly Im not coming back there. Lots of places alot better food then warung made. And I dont want to see again the crazy son of the owner

Nick–you’ve been to Made’s 100 times but didn’t know they only serve Heineken?? What do you normally drink there?
Must be the only place on Bali without Bintang or Bali Hai….
I had a great meal at MadeĀ“s on 18. March and they served BINTANGS! But only cans…
Dave, you clearly weren’t at Made’s (the clues were, “great meal” and “Bintang’s”). Easy mistake, it’s a common name.
Nick whizzed at Made 100 times without paying it seems….
Whoaa… is that a new thing to charge cutomers for restroom usage?
If so, it is ‘mahal’. Gee.. Rp 3k for restroom ?!
Thanks for the info, Nick. Otherwise we wouldn’t know and I can see myself with 2 kids on the tow.. that would be Rp 9k.. oh, Rp12k with suami.
Thanks
