Candika and I dined at a fabulous warung on Jl Benesari that is sure to please any lover of good food. The Good Luck restoran is one place I would reccommend to all visitors coming to Bali.
It seems to me that so many restoran’s in Bali are now offering a diverse range of foods in their menus. The Good Luck restoran has one edge though. Every meal on the menu can be served as a vegetarian dish. They even boast the use of natural cooking oils in preference to highly saturated cooking oils.
Asian foods, pastas, Mexican and Pizza’s dominate the menu. I took one look at the magnificent stone pizza oven and suddenly had an overwhelming desire to tuck into a New York Pizza!. However, if it’s a pizza you are after, then cruise down after 7pm. They need time to get the fires burning and heat the oven.
Simple wooden tables are arranged on two levels, and the chairs have very soft cushions which is pleasing to the butt!. How often have you gone to a restoran and found the seating uncomfortable?. Besides being a ‘pain in the butt’, it tends to be annoying when enjoying a meal. The Good Luck restoran has it all - soft lighting, mellow background music, a pleasant atmosphere, AND soft seating!.

Candika was actually adventurous tonight!. I convinced her to break from the sphere of Indonesian food and be bold in her choice. She chose Nasi Goreng Istemewa (Rp15,000). As a compromise, Candika decided to ‘go veggie’. She was pleasantly surprised and commented on the soft texture of the rice and vegetables.
Since being in Bali, I had yet to devour a salad. So, being a fish lover, my natural choice was a Tuna Salad (Rp20,000). The ample serving of of crisp salad vegetables was tossed lightly in a French Vinagrette dressing using virgin olive oil. On top was placed a more than ample portion of Tuna pieces. What impressed me was the inclusion of pickled red cabbage and gherkins mixed in the salad. The sliced green and black olives was a yummy addition!. A serving of crisp garlic bread complimented the salad beautifully.

Chris and I took Barrie and Chandika’s advice and went there last night. Chris ordered a pizza and I ordered exactly what Barrie had down to the drink. They ran out of tuna so I had chicken.
The salad was great and the vinegrette lovely. Por Chris waited for 50 minutes and they lost track of his pizza. We paid and left no worries. They were very busy and one of the staff offered Chris a choice of 2 pizzas at the end.
I’ll have to check out this place again. Paul Callahan eats here too.
