The end of Jl. Benesari has some good little places. Jl. Benesari runs in a crooked manner from Jl. Legian to the beach and the last place on the street in La Cabana, which has recently been taken over. Many people will remember Captain Haddocks, the little hole in the wall place on the way to the beach that has closed a couple of months ago. Last night I wandered into a place called Ninety Degrees Bar & Grill, which is part of Satriya Cottages. Located across from the Circle K and next to the Balcony restaurant, its easy to miss but I saw a TV with soccer on so wandered in.
My dinner of grilled snapper and rice was 20,000rp ($2) and was very good. I showed the staff a couple of photos of Jevon on my camera and they gave him the compliment of looking Balinese. I will definitely go for a grilled fish again, it was enak!
Lastly I headed somewhere I never go, Fuel on Jl. Legian. Fuel is a trendy lounge bar / restaurant, with PR staff and DJ. When I got there around 7.30pm it was almost totally empty, but sitting at the bar I chatted to the staff, who gave me a free beer. I also talked to the manager who is a guy from Jakarta, who spent many years in Amsterdam. He told me he misses the cold weather and will be going back. One of the PR staff is a benchong (transvestite), but he was nice enough to stop and ask me how I was doing. All in all everyone at Fuel was super nice, maybe I'll go back sometime. Fuel is a good place to sit on Jl. Legian to sip a drink a watch the passersby.

Nick,
It seems that you eat out almost every day and night. Does your wife ever cook? Just curious.
Also, do you ever get food poisoning? The last time I was in indo, I had to take one tablet of Pepto Bismol every morning as a precaution, and I stayed away from soupy food. Despite of being careful, I still came down with a stomach flu.
