My first night in Ubud Bali

arys071205.JPGMy first night in Ubud consisted of typing about my first afternoon here. Get the picture? I live in a &#39Memento&#39 kind of existence where I think about doing something, write about planning to do it, do it, then write about doing it. This evening I managed to screw up one computers in an internet cafe on Jl. Raya Ubud. I tried to plug my Alpha Smart cable into the mouse socket, whereas it should have been the keyboard socket. The guy was too busy chatting anyway but I feel bad for giving him the biggest tech challenge of his life.

Highway internet cafe and ISP provide a good service. Located on Jl. Raya Ubud, the internet cafe has all modern chairs, AC, USB ports!!! And drinks. The connection is good. The price is 30,000rp per hour, which is not cheap, but how much screwing around do you want?

I rode over to Nauri&#39s Warung across from the Neka Gallery. This place is supposed to be a hub for Ubud expats. I drank a small beer and left as there didn&#39t seem to be much going on. Back in town I drank 1 small beer at Ary&#39s Warung on Jl. Raya Ubud. Ary&#39s Warung is a cool place and my beer was 23,000rp.

Dinner was a steak at Nomad, a pretty decent place on Jl. Raya Ubud. My steak cost 32,000rp and was good, I can recommend this place. Okay that&#39s my evening in funky Ubud.

I have been reading Bali Blog and Boots and All for quite some time. I so appreciate your insights as well as your willingness to share and explore along with us. I am from Ventura CA which you probably are aware is very close to Santa Barbara. We are coming to Bali in 9 days and will be spending time in and around Ubud as well as Lombok. I have sort of adopted a small childrens home in a tiny village in Central Lombok and have been taking financial donations on their behalf to build some much needed classrooms. I will also spend a bit of time in and around ubud, Not sure where to stay but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. Would love to buy you and your beautiful wife a beer in Legion if you have a chance. congratulations on the birth of your baby. I am a labor and delivery nurse here in the US. If you need anything or have any questions give me a hollar!
