MAX is located on the site of Good Luck, the former surfer restaurant on Jl. Benesari past Warung 96. Good Luck used to have good food, until about a year ago when the ownership started to change. The design of MAX is virtually the same as Good Luck, except here is now a street side bar. The decor now includes Mexican imagery and the music has a Latin twist.
I haven’t sampled the food yet, but hope its good. MAX’s menu certainly promises something special, with all the tongue twisting names. I mean, can you imagine an Aussie surfer fresh off the plane going “Permisi saya mau Huachinango a la veracruzana”? The staff at Good Luck were cool, and all relayed to me their dislike of the way things were changing. I stopped by today and talked with Yuli from Java about the new name and style.

Hi Nick
Don’t you think with items like ‘Huachinango a la veracruzana’ that they should be able to figure out a better dessert than banana split? At least ‘churros’ should be on the menu.
By the way the part “permisi saya mau…” crack me up.
