Wednesday evening Ika did not want to go out anywhere to eat, so I walked down Jl. Seminyak to the Manado place, in front of Jaya Pub. Jaya Pub has been around since 1991 and has a branch in Jakarta. Its not a super fancy place but does attract loyal patrons on holiday from Jakarta.
In the mood for Indonesian food, but not wanting nasi goreng or the usual stuff, the Manado style felt like a good choice. They do a corn soup (pictured) with tomato and other sour / tangy items. Its quite unique, especially for a western palette. The soup was accompanied by a grilled fish and steamed rice. That and a small Bintang cost me 41,000rp.
The Manado restaurant is on the main street across from the junction with Jl. Double Six. When I visited the only other table was a party of 3 Indonesians.
The food is good and worth a go. Western items are on the menu too.
