Ravioli at Santa Fe in Seminyak Bali

Monday night Ika and I took a stroll around the corner from our house to Santa Fe on Jl. Dhyana Pura for a bite to eat. The time was 9pm and she had already had dinner, I was looking for a snack. Santa Fe has an usual menu, featuring Japanese sushi, Mexican, pizzas and other western dishes.

First I though salad, then soup and finally chose ravioli. Let me explain that choice. As a former world traveller I have some good survival instincts including being able to sleep anywhere. One of my faults however is that I don't like spaghetti, which seems to be served any time I go to someone's house while travelling. The only type of pasta I like is ravioli and today I chose the green colored spinach / ricotta ravioli for 27,500rp. When it came out I was delighted, it looked so good. Ika had a bite and agreed this was a delicious dish. I have gone on record as saying I will never pay for pasta, but I did and it was worth it.

Ika's doctor told her not to eat too much carbohydrate otherwise the baby will get big. She ate mostly vegetables today but we shared a chocolate mousse cake. "Baby likes this," she said, "too bad vegetables don't taste like chocolate cake." I'm sure many women would agree.

N.B. I put this article under Bali Expats because I didn't have one for 'Real Bali Expats'.

G’day Nick,

A world traveller not liking Pasta!. Yeah, I can understand that because in some ways pasta is an acquired taste depending on what type you choose.

This what I like about Bali now. The culinary choices from around the world being available. By that I mean the variety of restorans. A long tiem ago your only choice was, yeah, Indonesian food!.

Ya gotta love Ika’s wisdom in her words. That’s one thing you gotta teach your young one Nick and that is that veggies are like chocolate in taste!.
