One of the Indonesian entrepaneurs I have talked to before is Sayuti from Java. Formerly the owner of Yut’s on Jl. Padma, Sayuti is familiar with having to be adaptable. She told me that 3 times before she has opened successful restaurants, the land owner denying her an extension…unless they become partners.
Its a tough environment and Sayuti now owns a small place called Warung Cosy on Jl. Benesari, Kuta. This place serves Indonesian food with a few western snacks thrown in. Here’s their menu. Sayuti is always friendly and offered me a coffee. I had drank so much coffee watching the Rose Bowl I could barely stop myself twitching, so declined.
