Hanoman Juice Ja: Ubud Bali

Jl. Hanuman in Ubud is a cute little street featuring instrument shops, handicraft and guest houses. It also has a few places to eat and I stopped in Hanoman Juice Ja for some OJ. My allergies were playing up and I was sneezing like a coke addict. Hanoman Juice Ja is located on the left side of the street going downhill and is small with only 4 tables and 1 Japanese style table. I took that one and also ordered a veggie sandwich on whole bread for 15,000rp. The sandwich was stacked with fresh vegetables and tasted great with the slight tang of herbs. Maybe that will help clear out my sinuses.

While sitting I observed a shop owner across the street perform a ritual blessing and place offerings (canang) on the ground in front of her shop to ward off evil spirits. Her process involved a lingering crouch and eyes closed, gently wafting the smoke from the incense upwards.
