Like a majority of restoran in Kuta, you wil find the staff out front with the menu encouraging passer-bys to dine in their establishment. Candika and I found a pleasant restoran on Jl Legian.
This is another restoran I pass by every day without giving it nothing more than a curious glance. However, curiosity became the better of me after I scanned the extensive menu ranging from seafoods to Italian and Mexican, and the more extraordinary Indonesian dishes.
Maxi restoran is super-clean, squeaky clean in fact!. It not only boasts a continental dining atmosphere, it also has an excellent alfresco dining area for around thirty people. Candle lighting and the delightful touch of Gingham tablecloths enhance the continental dining atmosphere.
The attentive and polite service of the staff complimented a pleasant dining experience.

Candika selected Soto Ayam Madura (Rp20,000). A spicy soup originating from the island of Madura, it is made with coconut milk and contains chicken pieces, sliced boiled egg and sliced cabbage. An oversized Krupuk was a delightful accompaniment to the soup. Candika was most impressed and found the serving quite satisfying, and the added spices just perfect. In certain parts of the archipelago, this dish contains glass noodles which gives it a fullness and indeed a hearty meal!.
I was on a fish sojourn and chose the Wuku Ikan Campur (Rp40,000). a very scrumptious compilation of seafood in a mild red curry sauce. The soft texture of the seafood was superb and definitely mouth-watering AND very moorish!.
The accompanying Nasih Putih gave substance to the richness of the curry. A most enjoyable meal.
Atmosphere: Exteremly pleasant.
Food Quality: Superb.
Service: Excellent.
Rating: 8.5
The Maxi offers a 25% discount on the meal which is an added bonus. I found that a lot of restoran in Kuta/Legian are offering discounts as an enticement for diners. Perhaps when the tourist inflow increases, these discounts will disappear, but for now, enjoy!.
