Kuta Square in back to normal again after the cleansing ceremony on Sunday. Tourists from Java are starting to arrive for the week long Idul Fitri holiday. Driving down Jl. Legian I saw cars with license plates sporting the letter B, for Jakarta. Actually I don't even have to look at the license plates to know they are from out of town, I can tell by the way they drive, trying to go 2 abreast down a narrow street. At Matahari I bought a couple of pairs of socks, an item I don't use to much over here. I got 2 3-packs of Converse socks for 75,000rp.
Down the street the busy street-side restaurant Dulang (the one with the water spray and green awning) was
doing business. It could easily of been the target in place of Raja's and I thought it would be nice to sit here and do a spot of typing. My Greek salad for 35,000rp was average, though the people watching opportunities were good.
The sense I get from looking around is that people do not have fear. Sitting within 10 feet of me are Dutch, Indonesian, Australian families, all relaxing and enjoying their holiday.

David,
When you come off of Jl. Pantai Kuta you walk through Kuta Square to get to Jl. Kartika Plaza.
Raja’s would of been the first place on the left (excluding all the junk, KFC, Haagen Dasz, etc.).
On Kartika Plaza proper, there is an Indonesian seafood place on the corner, where they have dokars in front, then the sports bar, Stadium Cafe.
Oh bugger must have been Raja’s. Has the area changed much since March 04?
Nick can you tell me what’s the first bar/restaurant on the left you come to when walking down Jl. Kartika plaza from Jl.Pantai Kuta (Hard Rock Hotel Road)
It’s just that it was usually the last beer stop we made before getting a taxi back to Nusa Dua and we were concerned that when the second bomb hit it was this place. The guys that worked there were Top blokes and found it shocking that at the time our country (UK) were warning about visiting Bali. Loved English Premier football as well. They had this great skill in packing up all the tables and chairs in super-quick time when closing for the night.
