Checking out the nightlife with Chris in Kuta Bali-part II

Centerstage at the Hard Rock Hotel had an Indonesian band so we checked out that scene at around midnight. Walking up the long driveway I could see pyrotechnics and dancers on stage.

The male and female band knocked out some modern rock hits while the dancers / cabaret show did weird things with each other including 2 monsters with spark guns bending over 2 dancers and shooting them in the ass for about 2 minutes, sparks flying everywhere. There was no cover charge at Centerstage although drink prices were steep (30,000rp for a small Bintang). The crowd was a mixture of slightly older Aussies and Asian tourists, who generally flock to the Hard Rock.

A short walk through a mostly deserted Poppies II saw us stop at the Circle K. A couple of the guys I know including one cheeky lad named Dipa, were outside with a bottle of arak getting well plastered. They had some snacks and I'm sure after getting bombed with customers all night they felt like letting off some steam. Chris and I both downed a shot of arak each in their honor before heading to MbarGo on Jl. Legian. This place is packed every night. There is no cover charge, a huge lounge area, huge bar and dance floor. The music is cranking and it's Aussie Central. Around 2am we called it quits and I felt good that Chris's last night was out on the town and not home in the arm chair. A night exploring Kuta's nightlife is fun and you can do it all without driving or taking a taxi.
