The wind on the beach today really made it hard for people to sit and enjoy themselves. Ask any beach vendor, wind and rain mean slow business.
This bakso vendor wasn’t giving up though. Bakso is a kind of spicy soup with golf ball sized ‘chicken balls’. The kids all love bakso and the parents don’t like to let them have it too often. I think its kind of an equivalent to a hamburger for Americans…its okay for a quick snack out of the house but you don’t want to live on it.
For my hunger cure late this afternoon I went for the tried and tested traveler warung on Poppies I… Bamboo Corner. If you’re on a budget this is the place. I ordered a watermelon juice, bowl of tomato soup and a nasi goreng super with shrimp and chicken, all for 16,000rp ( less than $2).
Bamboo Corner has decent service, quality is pretty good and portions are okay. Add to that the low prices and its no wonder the place is full most nights.
The wet weather will be with us for a while and here is our 10 day forecast.

Forgot to add my airport experience was good despite the plane being delayed 11 hours!! From the first queue for the VOA to out the door was 50 minutes, which was pretty good I thought. Immagrassi were happy and chatty, is really helping knowing just a little Indonesian. One of the guys said something to the guy serving me and I said in Indonesian ” I understand you” Lots of laughter all round.
Angie, Cool…. They are eager to catch up I am sure…
Good Luck with all the work stuff.
