Candi Dasa: A handy place to stop in East Bali because it is right on the main road and provides your last real chance of changing money, getting online and having a selection of affordable places to stay and eat.
While we were in Candi Dasa we stayed at Pondok Bambu for 300,000rp per night. This was not the cheapest place by far, but it was cool. At first Chris and I were looking for a place with a pool and passed a few signs. Right in the center of town we saw a few signs offering accommodation with pool. Pondok Bambu looked decent but they wouldn't budge on price. Walking away we checked out the place next door that also had a pool and was 150,000rp. Chris liked Pondok Bambu so we went back. I knew our position was weak, seeing as how we had walked away and come back, but I still asked to see the manager. He wasn't around so I asked for his phone number. The staff wouldn't give it so we ended up paying the 300,000rp.
Whatever, the place was decent, nice pool, overlooking the ocean, super clean, modern rooms and nice staff. The breakfast totally blows but that it the only weak point.
