Ika and I recently visited a new warung on Jl. Kunti in Seminyak. Jl. Kunti is the street that Bali Deli, Bale Bali and Prana Spa are on. cabe080705v2.jpgCabe Rawit features simple but sexy decor, dark wood chairs and table, red cushions and paintings. Open from 7am-10pm, the name of the warung means 'small green chili' although the logo features a red chili. The first time we visited I ordered Nasi Timbel Sumba, on the advice of Ika's auntie Daisy. Nasi Timbel Sumba is steamed rice in banana leaves, served with fired chicken, sayur asem, salted fish and tofu and is a Sundanese (west Java) specialty. It was very good and the salted fish was salty! The price of my meal was 19,500rp. Today I went back and ordered Satay Sapi (beef satay) for 18,000rp.

cabe080705.jpgCabe Rawit's menu is divided into Pembuka (Appetizers) including Ketoprak (Boiled bean sprouts, tofu and vermicelli salad served with sweetish peanut sauce, 8,500rp), Sup (Soup) including Sayer Lodeh (Vegetables soup cooked in coconut broth, 8,500rp), Utama (Main Course) including Ayam Goreng Yogyakarta (Fried chicken marinated in spicy sauce, Yogyakarta style, 21,000rp), Pendamping (Side Dishes) including Nasi Uduk (Rice cooked in coconut milk, 5,000rp), and Penutup (Dessert) including Es Campur (Assorted fresh fruit and fermented cassava mixed with cocoa syrup and ice cubes.

If you are shopping in Seminyak and want a cool Indonesian place with good food give Cabe Rawit a try.
