Last Sunday Ika and I took Jevon to Bubba Gump on Jl. Kartika Plaza in Tuban. Bubba Gump in located on the same side of the road Bali Slingshot and All Stars Cafe, in that area. The restaurant is themed on the movie Forrest Gump (which I haven’t seen) and outside is a bench with a chance to do a Tom Hanks impression.
We had a choice of outside seating under a shaded area, or inside in the cool of the AC. We went in and sat at a booth. On the table is a little stand with US license plates, one red, one blue. When you want a waitresses you flip over the red one and they all shout ‘Run Forrest Run’, when you flip over the blue one it means you don’t need a waitress. I imagine this would be a hideous place to work, but obviously the kids love it. The other table of customer was a family of Jakarta Chinese. They were getting into the onion rings and other items they had ordered. Ika and I each got a strawberry smoothie which were good.
Our bill was 70,000rp, not cheap by Bali standards.
Bubba Gump’s menu is divided into: Appetizers including Bubba’s Far Out Dip (21,000rp), Bubba’s Shrimp Specials including I’m Stuffed Shrimp (62,000rp), Forrest’s Favourites including Bourbon St. Mahi Mahi (69,000rp),
Sandwiches including Dixie Fishwich (48,000rp), Salads including BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad (58,000rp), Desserts including Alabama Mud Pie (42,000rp). They also serves juices and cocktails.
Bubba Gump is good for families with kids and those staying on Jl. Kartika Plaza. A range of souvenirs are also available.

I found Bubba Gump to be very overpriced with the food being pretty average. There are so many fantastic restaurants in Bali I thought this one is only worth a visit once and only if you have young children for novelty value. Sorry to see tacky american culture being brought to Bali.
We have only just returned from bali on 19/3 and already miss it. We ate at Ferbis further down the road from Bubba Gumps sensational food at great prices. There is also another restaurant called Ketumba’s in Melasti street which is really good value for money and food was wonderful.
A bunch of waitresses shouting ‘Run Forrest Run’over and over sounds like a nightmare.
