Breakfast in Bali can take many shapes. I usually just get a kopi Bali and a small doughnut. On the occassions that I fancy eggs there are many options. Eggs benedict at Ku De Ta for 65,000rp, American breakfast at Cafe Moka for 35,000rp or American breakfast at Warung 96 for 9,000rp. I am actually guessing at the first 2 prices but they are in the ballpark.

Warung 96 it was today. I was the only customer and my American breakfast included a pot of coffee, pineapple juice, a fruit plate and this plate of bread, eggs and bacon. All for 9,000rp!

Times are hard for sure and people definitely have their eyes on anything that smells of money. My waiter took hold of the sleeve of my Nike shirt and said “Nice, where you get?” Outside an ice vendor was admiring the new motorbike I’m renting. Its shiney new and the guy could not take his eyes of it for about 5 minutes.

The staff at Warung 96 are cool and once before I didn’t have the right change. They let me walk off, promising to come right back with the money. About a day later I remembered and gave Ika money to go pay them.

Warung 96 does an okay breakfast for little money.
