Arriving in Semarang Java

Ika and I arrived in Semarang last at around 7.30pm after circling the city for 30 minutes.

Our airline, Merpati was like a cattle car and the older plane was packed with people.

Finally on the ground after some heavy buffeting we took an airport taxi to the same hotel as before, the Santika in the east of the city.

This this the prices ahd all risen from 200,000rp and 300,000rp respectively for a Standard and Deluxe room, to 280,000rp and 380,000rp. We took the twin bed Standard room.

The food at the Santika is fantastic though, with a large assortment of Indonesian food and some western food.

I ordered a soto ayam (chicken soup) and goat and vegetable dish is a sauce. Both were great and the cost was about 15,000rp for a main course. The Santika has a free buffet breakfast and a laundry which came in handy for me needing to iron my wrinkled pants. Sometimes and guest house just will not do.

Semarang is sunny and several degrees cooler than Bali is right now. One nice suprise I got recently was that my feriends Chris and Sean from the US are coming to the wedding! They arrive the night before!

Did you book your room direct or through a local travel agent?

Wow, well done Sean and Chris, wish I could be there myself.
Maybe Ika has a sister who’s looking for an eligible, 30 something entrepreneur to double up with on the big day.

Have a great time guys.

Needless to say, with the surgery I have been somewhat out of the loop for all of this, but am trying to catch up with all the goings on. So glad to hear that the boys have journeyed to be at your side for the nuptials. Jennifer and I will be thinking about you all, wishing we were there. I hope it is a glorious sunny day that will ring in the rest of your life. Best to you and Ika. Can’t wait to see the photos! Love Susan

Great to hear from people! I will be seeing Sean and Chris in several more hours.

Ika does have a sister called Ningrum who is 20 and looks about 15 who will be attending.

Susan keep healing and we will be having a cold drink in Bali sometime soon.

Nick, it meant a lot to me to get to hear your big news in person and spend some time with you last month. I am extremely happy for you and Ika, and wish you all the best for a happy and love-filled ceremony. Please tell her that I enjoyed the video and look forward to meeting her some day.

I’ll be thinking about you both all week. Love, Jen
