After a leisurely stroll downtown Kuta last night, I figured that when Candika started chewing on my arm, it was time to eat.
Just opposite the famed ‘Warung 96′, I espied a small restoran that brought happy tears to a Wombat’s eye. The sign read ‘WOMBAT BAR & GRILL” and, after perusing the menu board outside, we happily Wombat’d inside.
Although a small restoran, it oozes atmosphere. There are a half-dozen tables and chairs outside for Al & Fresco to dine, and inside the same. After retrieving my other arm from Candika’s mouth, I checked out what proved to be an excellent selection of dishes to suit all palletes.
Candika surprised me (wonders will never cease!) and ordered the Chicken Curry. A more than ample serve of fresh veggies and succulent pieces of chicken simmered in a mild curry sauce and accompanied with nasih putih. Of course I snatched a piece of chicken from her plate and almost lost my fingers in the process due to Candika’s food-possesive voracity. I gotta tell you folks, that piece of chicken was melt-in-the-mouth and superbly delightful!.
Naturally the Wombat chose fish!. Yeah I know, Wombats only supposed to eat roots, shoots and leaves but I’m a fish-loving Wombat!. So it was a 2 kilo Red Snapper grilled over hot BBQ coals, then topped with a very tasty Chilli sauce and served with pan-fried veggies and chips. It was perfect in every manner.
The patio section has a large BBQ, and whether you have the fish or the chicken grilled, you can be assured of an excellent feed!.

The Wombat Bar & Grill serves icy cold beers and has a good selection of spirits. For value for money, you cannot go past this small gem. Whether you want a ‘coldie’ and relax, or for a good feed, ya gotta check this place out.

Yeah, I was surprised at the amount of new restoran that have sprung up. In the 2 Poppies Lanes alone there are at least a half dozen that I’ve noticed. Naturally the Wombat will cover them in good time!.
How’s the weather in Perth?. Damn hot here today. Candika had be tramping around shopping.It won’t be long before I’m on the streets with my hand out!

Tonight I’m looking after myself, so I won’t tell you what I’m having, but believe me, it’s nowhere near as good as what you’re talking about!
The Wombat is etched into my memory for my next trip, hopefully next August.
Never mind, another glass of cheap Australian wine will put me right!
