Bali What to Do

There’s no limit to the things you can do during your visit. We’ve come up with a few ideas though to get you off to a flying start.

Travel advice for Bali

Travel advice is cheap. Everyone who comes here can give their opinion and tips on where to go, what to do and how to avoid hassles. Reading an article from Arthur Frommer’s, offering answers to general travel questions, I thought I’d apply that to Bali. Here’s what Frommer’s says.

Here’s my answer to the same questions for Bali.

Second Australian man feared drowned in Bali

A second Australian man is feared dead in Bali, a day after a fellow Aussie surfer drowned at Seminyak beach. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, a 30 year old man from Victoria was missing after surfing at Uluwatu, Bali’s premier surf break.

A friend of mine told me about a situation he had at Uluwatu one time. The swell was up and the waves were lining up. He wiped out and got 2 double hold-downs, meaning he was held under water by successive waves. He made it but said it was very close.

Big waves and strong currents make Bali …

Surfing: The peak season in Bali

July is the peak season for surfing in Bali. The SW coast, all the way from Medewi to Uluwatu enjoys offshore winds and decent swell. Kuta beach will be busy too, with begining surfers and local Bali boys jostling for position on larger than normal waves.

Bunut Bolong: North Bali

One of my greatest delights in Bali is to drive up into the mountains. Here, where the cool air is fresh and unadulterated, you can immerse the senses in a panorama of Mother Nature's beauty.

Touch Football Championships: Canggu, Bali

Besides soccer, my all time favourite game has to be Rugby whether it is League or Union. Australian Rules football I can watch and tolerate but it's not on the top of my list as favourite sports.

Some nice waves in Bali right now

Checking out the wave conditions in Bali right now, I see this morning we had 2-4ft waves at Kuta & Middle Reef. Winds were ESE-SE by mid-morning. Water temps were 21C and air temps in the upper 20’sC.

Bali surfer Rizal an entrepaneur

Bali local surfer Rizal Tanjung is known for ripping Padang Padang and other Butkit breaks to shreds. Rizal is no slacker when it comes to busines either, owning Un’s Hotel and The Balcony, located on Jl. Benesari across from ther Circle K 150 meters from the beach. The Balcony is a cool place, decent breakfasts, a cool atmosphere and a surfer hotspot. There is a photo of Kelly Slater on the wall enjoying his grub.

Between Times - Photographs and Paintings: Bali

Bali is without a doubt an artist's island of inspiration. The multitude of colours across the landscape, in a market or at a temple ceremony are pleasing to the eye and the pallet.

The Holy Springs of Tirta Empul: Tampaksaring, Bali

North of Tampaksaring on the road to Kintamani you will see the turnoff to Tirta Empul. It is to here that the Balinese come from all over the island on pilgrimages to bathe in the holy springs and thus cleanse themselves spiritually.
