Massage at Puspa Ayu Spa in Kerobokan Bali

Bali has a ton of spas and massage places. In an effort to check them out I asked Ika if she would like to go for a massage. She said yes and we went to Puspa Ayu spa in Kerobokan. This spa is at the rear of Bali Ayu hotel and is located on Jl. Petitenget. Arriving the place was totally quiet at 1pm. Walking to the spa area we saw 2 Balinese ladies in their sarongs and had a look at the menu. Ika choose a deal where they give you and hour of rubbing various remedies on you plus a half hour massage.

Chill: Reflexology at The Villas on Jl. Kunti

Walking past Chill on Jl. Kunti, one could be forgiven for thinking it was the latest lounge bar to hit town. Walking in the front door, I was immediately hit by the tranquility and the great smell. The small reception area had 2 staff, dressed like they were auditioning for Star Trek Voyager. Lowering my voice and slowing myself down to accommodate the relaxed atmosphere I asked for a brochure.

The Spa experience in Bali: Great value for money

Bali is loaded with spas and many people stay at a spa hotel like the Alam Kul Kul on Jl. Pantai, preferring to work spa therapies into their holiday on a daily basis. Why is this such a draw, and why do Japanese people seem to love it?

Interview with Putu at Bali Ayu in Kerobokan Bali

When I arrived in Bali in Jan 2003, the first person I took a liking too was a lady named Putu. She worked at Ryoshi Legian. I visited her family in Mengwi and in the last year or so I have not been to Ryoshi. One of the staf told me Putu worked at Bali Ayu hotel, so I took the opportunity to see if she was around. Showing up I was thinking ‘the guy probably made a mistake, and even if she works here its probably her day off or something’. Asking the receptionist for Putu, he directed me to the spa, where she works as a receptionist.

Interview with Made at Mimpi Spa in Seminyak Bali

Bali has some great spas. treatments usually include a variety of massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, and Balinese tradition treatments. Seminyak and Ubud have many small spas which offer good service for an affordable price. I visited one around the corner from my house valled Mimpi. Mimpi is on Jl. Dhyana Pura across from Bahaina and I spoke to young guy called Made.

Taking Ika for a massage in Kerobokan Bali

Bali has so many things to offer and I’m not good at taking advantage sometimes. All my mates tell me I should surf, the nightlife is relentless and there is a huge array of fine dining places. Another thing that Bali is known for is spas.

Jl. Kunti Seminyak Bali

Jl. Kunti is a side street off of Jl. Seminyak that has an interesting mixture of businesses. Probably the 2 biggest places on Jl. Kunti are Bali Deli and Prana Spa / The Villas. This afternoon I checked out some of the lesser player on the street.

Bali is the spa capital of Asia

Maybe the fanantical religious people who target Bali don’t care, but a lot of people have been talking about Bali’s spas. Bali has been voted ‘Asian Spa Capital of 2005′ by AsiaSpa Magazine.

Spas in Bali: How do they differ?

spa112805.jpgFrom my experience visiting hotel and independent spas in Bali, there are a lot of differences. Some of the common themes are that water is used in some way, whether it be a jacuzzi, whirlpool, saunas and steam rooms. An assortment of international massage techniques, Swedish, shiatsu, deep tissue etc. are usually offered. Add to this a Balinese element incorporating local healing techniques and tropical concoctions that are applied to the skin in rejuvenating facials, enlivening body scrubs and stimulating wraps.
