Bali has developed over the last 10 years and one of the good things for tourists is the number of ATMs located all around the island. You will find a range of ATMs belonging to local bank banks on most busy streets and also inside convenience stores like Circle K. These machines accept cards from all over the world and I can use my Washington Mutual bank card from Oregon.
Banks in Bali will change foreign cash and travelers checks 8am – Noon, Mon –Fri. On weekends only money changers operate and on Sunday only the government one is open (they only accept US TC’s or cash).
The currency here in Indonesia is the rupiah as currently ( April 04 ) the exchange rate is 8850 rp = US$1. You will usually find that your money goes a long way over here. Getting it here and changed into local currency can be the tricky part.
