Budget accommodation in Tanjung Benoa Bali
Most budget travellers to Bali who are looking for budget accommodation head for Kuta and then spread their wings around the rest of the island. One place they do not usually go is Nusa Dua / Tanjung Benoa because of the prices associated with it. However Benoa has some affordable options. The whole area on the eastern end of the Bukit gets labeled as Nusa Dua but there are well known local names for its separate parts. As you arrive at the main gate to the complex you are actually in Bualu, which comes complete with hotels such as the Hotel Bualu, a clinic (SOS Pratama) and the Bale Banjar, the local community headquarters.

Best swimming pools in Bali
For many people a holiday in Bali means finding a comfortable hotel and relaxing by the pool. Nothing wrong with that and I have some ideas about the best pools. If you are staying in Tuban you might go to the Discovery which has a nice pool leading onto the beach. The Discovery is a favourite of Australian families and the goo thing about this location is that you will spend minimal time driving and maximum time relaxing. You can be in the pool sipping a cocktail an hour after you touchdown.

Visiting Hotel Baleka in Legian Bali
Thursday afternoon I rode down to Hotel Baleka on Jl. Padma Utara (Padma north) in Legian. I checked out this Balinese owned hotel, which has been in operation since 1975. My guide was Mr. Ngurah D. Putra, the General Manager. Ngurah is a software engineer turned hotel manager, since his family owns the Baleka. One of his ideas he has put into practice is to create a database of guest profiles, so that the staff can best serve repeat customers. That is hands on management. The name of the hotel means Bali Legian Kaja, the area where it is located and the hotel caters largely to Australian families wanting an affordable downtown option.
