Bali Becoming Very Busy According to Garuda Indonesia
A University colleague of mine rang me on Friday quite dismayed at the fact he could not obtain a flight to Bali and wondered if I could do anything. As if I am a travel agent!. Anyway, I rang my friend at Garuda Indonesia and was told that even though flight bookings had been heavy the situation was being addressed and was told that my colleague would have no problem obtaining a flight this week coming. I couldn’t understand why Garuda was so busy but in fact they are and a couple of the factors being the excellent package deals being offered and the other, the fantastic exchange rate for the Australian dollar at this time. Of course the other airlines servicing Bali have also been quite busy and this is good to see especially for the Balinese who suffered a slump in business due to previous unfortunate occurrences that deterred people from going to the island. Now, the inbound traveller figures are outstanding and reminds me of the tourist boom time of the late 80’s and 90’s when Bali was so busy you virtually needed traffic lights on the footpaths.

Flights to Sabah from Bali Confirmed
Although not a part of Indonesia, the province of Sabah in northern Borneo (Kalimantan) is still one of the most desired destinations for the adventurous traveller. Having only been there once and also to Sarawak, it is one place that I would highly recommend. If you are in Bali or Jakarta and wish to explore the neighbouring islands then good news is at hand. AirAsia has reaffirmed, officially, its direct flights to Kota Kinabalu in Sabah from Jakarta and Bali, Indonesia. Jakarta-Kota Kinabalu’s first flight commenced on 30 March 2008 and Bali-Kota Kinabalu’s had …

New Zealand to Bali Flights Needed
One thing I never knew and that was Garuda Indonesia had stopped flying to Bali straight from New Zealand and Brisbane in 2007. New Zealanders are amongst the nicest people in the world and I say that after spending a year there riding around the islands on a motorbike. Kiwis wanting to visit Bali have to connect through an Australian city. How stupid. Wouldn’t it be far better if the straight flights from the main cities in New Zealand to Denpasar and Jakarta were to be restored, then surely this would significantly contribute to …

Arriving at Ngurah Rai airport Bali
Arriving at Ngurah Rai airport last night, I tried to put myself in the shoes of a first time visitor to Bali. Actually I always try to do this, its a mental refresher as to the sights, sounds, smells and experiences that one of our ‘customers’ first gets.

Lion Air Direct to Singapore from Bali
Another new airline route has been added to the growing number of service from Denpasar to other places on the planet. This one is a direct flight to Singapore vice versa which would make it ideal for all expats doing a visa-run. The new service is also ideal for those travellers coming through Singapore that want to fly direct to Bali instead of going through Jakarta. Lion Air will commence this new route on Friday (6th June) and for starter price is it quite reasonable at $117. What is even better still is for …

Lion Air to Begin Flights from Bali to Singapore
Many times I have been tempted just to head out of Indonesia and over to Singapore for a week or so break. As cheap as it is to get there from Jakarta, it’s going to be even better now that Lion Air will fly direst to Singapore from Bali. This is good news for those travellers on a RTW trip wanting to go direct to Bali from South-East Asia. It is also good news for those residents who want to holiday in Bali. Indonesia’s Lion Air has declared its intention to begin flying between Bali and Singapore in June or July 2008, utilizing Boeing 737-900ER aircraft. As reported in Bisnis Indonesia, the public relations manager of Lion Air, Hasyim Alhabsi, said service would initially be once each day with additional flights to follow.
