Road safety in Bali
Driving around in Bali often feels like the local lunatic asylum has turned everyone loose and given them a motorbike as a going away gift. The deal with Bali is that people start riding motorbikes when they are kids and probably never have a proper lesson. An environment where no one knows the proper way to drive develops its own logic, call it chaos theory if you like, bit that's what we've got here.

Tourist Information and Tours in Ubud Bali
Ubud is a good place to head to if you are staying in the Kuta area and want something new. The whole place is arts oriented and offers a much quieter and more personal encounter with the Balinese locals. A good way to get to Ubud is by Perama bus, the private little bus company with scheduled trips. These are NOT tour buses, but simply transport from A to B. Perama has an office on lower Jl. Legian in Kuta and the buses leave for Ubud at 1000, 1330, 1630, price 20,000rp. Arriving in Ubud you will be dropped off at the Perama bus office on lower Jl. Hanoman in the southern part of town. There are usually taxis hanging and touts hanging around offering free transport to hotels and guesthouses. If you feel uncomfortable taking their advice just walk up Jl. Hanoman and you will see many signs for guesthouses, most are 50,000rp per night for 1 person.

Renting a car for the weekend in Seminyak Bali
Renting a car here in Bai is super easy. Ika, Jevon and I are taking off early on Saturday for NE Bali. Not wanting to deal with waiting around tomorrow and dealing with crap, I walked over to Jl. Dhyana Pura. Along DP there are many car rental places. Every time I walk to the beach someone is saying “boss rent car?” I wanted a Suzuki Katana as they are small and cheap. The first place I went to the guy wanted 250,000rp for the 3 days I’ll need it. I offered 200,000rp and he let me walk away. Good to know I reached rock bottom.

Car rental in Tanjung Benoa Bali
Nusa Dua is a place for privacy and luxury. It is designed to shut out the world and let you enjoy your holiday in style. That's all good, but if you decide you'd like a little interaction with the outside world how do you go about organizing it? If you are staying in a resort hotel in Nusa Dua or Tanjung Benoa you can arrange car rental through your hotel, which will be a tad expensive. If you are staying and a budget place, or just want to save money there is a selection of small operators along Jl. Pratama, the main road that heads north towards Tanjung Benoa.

Jl. Double Six in Legian Bali
One of the busiest streets in Legian / Seminyak is Jl. Double Six. It run perpendicular to the beach and connects Jl. Legian to Jl. Arjuna. The narrow winding street is lined with shops selling a never-ending selection of sarongs, flashy / holiday style clothes, accessories, hats and handicrafts. During the daytime the street is very busy with traffic, all pushing its way through and causing blockages. The traffic problem has been helped greatly by the new regulation that forces traffic to exit this dead-end street via Jl. Padma Utara. Motorbikes can still drive both ways. Double Six, which actually Jl. Arjuna, was unofficially re-named after the large nightclub that occupies a beach side spot at the end of the road.
