New Years in Seminyak Bali
Walking around Seminyak this morning I stolled along Jl. Dhyana Pura and also Jl. Arjuna, the beach at the end of Jl. Double Six. Preparations are being made for New Years after a wet night. The staff at Double Six nightclub were putting together some plywood contraption, probably to support some kind of sign for later. Down the street, staff at the new DeJaVu were hosing down the patio area. DeJaVu relocated to the place next door, meaning a slightly larger venue. It never ceases to amaze me how place that are doing good business, suddenly close, due to lease problems. Today Blue Ocean beach looked more like ‘post hurricane beach’ with the remnants of last night’s storm strewn all over.

Legong Dance in Ubud Bali
Visitors to Ubud usually end up at a temple dance. By that I don’t mean dressing sexy and grinding on the dance floor, I mean watching Balinese people perform traditional Balinese dances. On the main street, Jl. Raya Ubud, touts are out all day long, catching flies. I’ve never gone for it before, as I’ve always managed to see Balinese dances for free in villages around the island. Last night my friends were thinking about going for it, so I went along. There are many dances, but the one we saw was at the Ubud Palace at 7.30pm.

Bali Bombing anniversary in Kuta Bali
This afternoon was the anniversary of the Bali Bombing, that put the island on the world terror map. I remember back in 2003, Yahoo!’s homepage said ‘The frontlines of the war on terror, the bomb scared island of island of Bali.’ Jesus, Mary and Joseph, do they sit around making that stuff up?
