Today I had a surreal experience. You know one of those days where connections seem to be popping, you have choice but to go along with it. Let me explain what happened.
Just got an email from my friend Devin Skolnick (son of Barbara). He is arriving tonight at the airport and wants to join his momma, up in the cultural heart of Bali’s shopping, Ubud. I thought I had spaced it and missed his flight, but he got straight back to me on email and said it was today.
It takes a while to get used to a new scene, with a different set of problems to overcome. Yesterday I got a call from a newcomer to Bali, who complained about the mosquitoes out here. He has a wife and baby and said they were unable to sleep, the wife and baby having to move the next day to a hotel.
Society is changing and one of the things that is becoming taboo, is smoking in public places. I don’t know about you, but lung cancer, early death, plus my hair, clothes and skin, stinking of cigarette smoke, are not something I want, least of all when the smoke comes from someone else. I’m a European, and have to say that here in Bali, the Euro’s are the worst offenders for sparking up anywhere, obviously not giving a damn about anyone else who happens to be around.
