After a spell at Internet Outpost, Sean and I got hunger pains and hit our local warung for some nasi camper (’cham poor’ or ‘champers’ as Sean calls it), mixed rice.

We got up at around 7am this morning and headed out to the beach to catch a taxi to Seminyak.
Met Mila today at the Krakatoa cafe in Seminyak and she drove us in her husband’s SUV to 2 different houses in the Legian / Seminyak area.
The first house was large with a small pool in front. We don’t need a pool but it’s worth checking what’s available and how much these guys will negotiate.

Made and his brother picked us up at our place with their motorcycles and we scouted 3 houses in the Kuta / Legian area. All these were affordable and the prices negotiable. This lady was living at the last place in Legian which was the cheapest.

Today I went with Made from Bali Land & Houses to look at place omly 5 minutes away from their office. I was a pretty cool place owned by a French guy. He was living there with his Indonesian girlfriend and showed me around. 3 bedroom, kitchen, furniture, fridge etc. I asked Made the price and it was out of my reach, of course everything is open to negotiation here so asking prices are only a guideline.

Wednesday in Bali I went to Internet Outpost and replied to some of the e-mails that had piled up. They had a new staff member today called Raffy, and this was probably her first job. The other employees Ika & Enda are more confident and helped me handle phone calls today. The manager Hendra also came in and said hello to me. Its really handy having this place when I’m out they take calls for me. I arranged to look at some houses through one of Jason connections and around 2.30pm Made ( another Made pronounced Ma-day ) picked me up on his motorcycle from the cafe. He was worried that I didn’t have a helmet as the cops out here pull you over for that but we made it to Legian / Seminyak ( the expat area ) without a hitch. I told him my budget, not as a final price but rather a ballpark figure and what I was looking for.

This afternoon Sean and I went out to Global Net on Jalan Raya Kerebokan in Seminyak. We spent a couple of hours online using their slow satellite connection. It’s satellite, but when a dozen people are sucking on the same pipe not much data can get through quickly.

This afternoon Sean and I visited a house off of Jalan Seminyak occupied by a French woman. It took us a while to get there after some missdirections, but when we finally arrived it turned out to be a nice place.

Made took me to view another place today at around 2pm. His job at the restaurant along the beach road means he has plenty of spare time and can try to earn extra money by finding renters customers. It’s cool from my point of view as I have people driving me around for free.
The place we looked at was a 3 bedroom place owned by a Chinese Indonesian. When we arrived the housekeeper was looking after the kids who were playing video games on a large tv, a far cry from Made’s family.

This morning I had 4 people contact me about houses.
Made #1 came round to play room with his 5 year old daughter, he was on his way to kindergarten. I gave her a shiny gold pound coin to show to her friends.
He will take me around agian tomorrow at 9am.
At the check-in desk a guy I’d never seen before heard I was looking and will take me to a place at 2pm today.
Made #2 from Bali Land & Houses called about 10.30am and I am now on my way to meet him.

I'm in the internet cafe right now handling a few e-mails and will visit a company today to look at houses out in Jason's neighborhood. He said he’d be happy to negotiate when the time came, I just have to find something that will work for us. We basically want a house with 3 bedrooms (for myself, Chris when he comes and guests). Going 10 minutes from Kuta helps bring down the price a lot and Mark told me last night this is the best possible time to rent as people are short of money. He …
