Bali About Us
Agung: Owner of Ned's Hideaway in Seminyak Bali
Seminyak is full of colorful characters and today I met another, Agung, owner of Ned’s Hideaway on Gang Bima. Agung told me that 15 years ago she had a very good restaurant on Jl. Legian called Ned’s, named after her first husband, an Englishman named John Kelly, who everyone called Ned (that’s how life works sometimes). Agung’s husband passed away and she decided to buy land in Seminyak, to start Ned Hideaway, guest house, restaurant and bar. Her second husband, David from Australia, passed away 4 months ago, after suffering from kidney problems. Agung said he had helped her build up the guest house, but spent too much time at the bar. Agung recently had a stroke, that left her with partial use of her left hand, but she stays optimistic.

The Life of Ni Wayan Murni: Ubud, Bali
If you ever go up to Ubud then at one time or another you will hear the name Murni's mentioned or even see her establishments there. Do yourself a big favour and eat some great Balinese tucker at Murni's Warung.

Talking with Ida Bagus Puspa Arthawa in Legian Bali
Part of my job is doing hotel reviews, so that people can make a better choice for themselves when coming to Bali on holiday.
Back in 2004, I interviewed Ida Bagus Puspa Arthawa, the manager of the Puri Raja Hotel in Legian and we got slightly off-topic talking about Bali. He was an interesting man, and it was insprinig to talk to someone with something to say. I think he he understood many of the problems facing Bali and the Balinese.

Tale of a recent Bali tourist
Writing about travelling in Bali from an internet cafe, I can get detached from what actual traveling in Bali is like. Jacinta is a young lady who recently did an 11 day trip to Bali. Here’s her account.
