Touring the Ubud area, one will often find unique restaurants and galleries, in the most unexpected places. Stopping for a quiet drink / snack, helps to break up a trip and one great palce to stop is Gaya Fusion Of Senses.
Back from Ubud with Ika & Jevon. We had a pretty good time and its always refreshing spending some time in a different scene and learning a few things.
Ubud is stunningly beautiful place and now, it has a new addition with the opening of the Botanical Garden Ubud recently. Situated some 1.2 kilometres from the centre of town, it offers visitors a relaxed and unique setting.
Ubud has many great places for a drink or snack, but one of the most pleasant in Cafe Lotus, located on Jl. Raya Ubud. Cafe Lotus sits in front of Pura Saraswati and looks out over the tranquil lotus pond. When I visited the other afternoon there were maybe 6 people there and I had my choice of where to sit. They have an inside area, or a long bale structure, running down the side of the pond. I chose the bale and loved combination of shade and cool breeze on a steamy afternoon.
Three years ago today I was in Ubud with Sean, struggling to post articles. I remember that trip very well, particularly the aggressive little monkeys in Monkey Forest. They will try to pinch anything that isn’t locked down and understand body language!
This morning while I was in the shower, I was thinking about Cafe Moka. Quite what made me think of it, I don’t know, but anyhow, Cafe Moka has opened a new branch on Jl. Raya Ubud.
If you ever go up to Ubud then at one time or another you will hear the name Murni's mentioned or even see her establishments there. Do yourself a big favour and eat some great Balinese tucker at Murni's Warung.
Cafe Lotus is the restaurant that sits in front of the lotus pond at Pura Saraswati in Ubud. My brief visit the other was very pleasant and I enjoyed the tranquility. There are organized events at Cafe Lotus, featuring
giving diners the opportunity to enjoy Balinese traditional dance performances.
Zooming up to Ubud this morning in search of something new, I decided to treat myself and my readers to Warung Enak. Located about 100 meters after the bottom end of Jl. Hanuman, Warung Enak (enak means ‘delicious’) serves Indonesian and Balinese food. When I arrived at midday, the place only had 2 other guests. I choose the upstairs area to sit and it had a view of rice fields. A year or so ago the view would of been better, the bungalows now under construction probably weren’t there, but that’s Bali for you.
The market hasn't changed at all, whatever is on sale in Kuta is on sale here about 5-10% cheaper. I did however manage to find some scarves here which I had despaired of every seeing again and there was possibly a better range of table linen. I succumbed and bought one the thousands of cat carvings for my feline-friendly mother. We had an OK lunch at one of the restaurants heading out of Ubud into the hills-but personally I would recommend going to one of the bigger hotel/resorts if you want a truly glorious view/meal experience of the sort shown in brochures.
