Friday night in Seminyak Bali
Dinner for me tonight was an ayam bakar (grilled chicken) and rice dish at a place called Yogyakarta down in Tuban, close to Supernova market. I had 3 pieces of chicken, rice, lalapan (raw veg), hot tea for around 35,000rp.

This morning while I was in the shower, I was thinking about Cafe Moka. Quite what made me think of it, I don’t know, but anyhow, Cafe Moka has opened a new branch on Jl. Raya Ubud.

Lunch at Classic Cafe: Discovery Mall Tuban
Leaving it late for lunch today I remembered a place in Discovery Shopping Mall in Tuban, that overlooks the ocean. Classic Cafe is a unique little place that has outside seating under shades and an inside area. In the evenings they also have band. Walking through the mall, I wasn’t tempted to buy anything, but did see one encouraging sight, a young lady handing out beer vouchers (won’t see any of that under Sharia Law). Upon closer investigation I found out the vouchers were an inviation to buy something first and get a beer. Oh well, I still like their style, pretty girls and beer are a winner.

Eve Resto: European food in Tuban Bali
Monday afternoon I stopped into a place on Jl. Kartika Plaza called Eve Resto. They postioned staff on both sides of the street to entice people in. Eve Resto was new to me o I ga it a shot. Happy hours is 5pm-9pm and a small Bintang is 9,000rp. Sitting at one of the streetside tables I was the only customer, but did see families of tourists strolling by and checking the place out.

Evening at Discovery Mall in Tuban Bali
This evening I had dinner in one of the restaurants, at the back of Discovery Mall in Tuban. Barrie and his family were well familiar with the food options, as they have checked out the restaurants there before. We were joined by 2 ladies (Dina and Ani) from Yogyakarta, close to where Barrie’s wife, Candika lives.

Enjoy Masakan Jawa at Plengkung: Tuban, Bali
If you like good Javanese food then head out to a place on Jalan Raya Kuta in Tuban called Plengkung. Their specialty, roasted chicken, makes the Colonel's stuff seem like bland tucker.

Bubba Gump: Tuban Bali
Last Sunday Ika and I took Jevon to Bubba Gump on Jl. Kartika Plaza in Tuban. Bubba Gump in located on the same side of the road Bali Slingshot and All Stars Cafe, in that area. The restaurant is themed on the movie Forrest Gump (which I haven’t seen) and outside is a bench with a chance to do a Tom Hanks impression.

Nasi padang: A great way to stretch your money in Bali
Food in Bali is like Alice in Wonderland. Nothing makes sense. You can get a pound of rice and vegetables for next to nothing, and pay 100,000rp for a knat-sized portion of something dribbled with French sauce.

Interview with Tuar at Classic Cafe in Tuban Bali
Classic Cafe is one of a handful of places that have opened on the beach side of Discovery Mall Shoping Center in Tuban. Classic Cafe features affordably priced western and Indonesian food, as well as drinks and is a great place for an afternoon snack or evening drink. During the mornings and afternoon, this whole beach side of the Mall is busy with shoppers. Later on in the evening its quietens down, but Classic Cafe has music most nights of the week, going till late.
