Le Spot: Bali Deli in Seminyak Bali
Bali Deli, the Seminyak expat’s place to food shop, has a handy little cafe, with an inside AC section, and an outside area, including cute little ‘bales’, where a small group can relax. According to Le Spot, ‘We are a French bistro-style restaurant serving international gourmet cuisine.’ When I visited in the mid-afternoon, the outside area was mostly full, with expats chatting, discussing business or taking a break.

StreetLife in Seminyak Bali
A year ago I stopped into StreetLife, a bar on Jl. Oberoi, and chatted with owner Luca, from Belgium. This afternoon I went back to see how he’s doing. Luca is a man of action, and is currently splitting his time between Bali and Shanghai, a place he refers to as, the ‘new New York’. StreetLife is located about 50 meters before Rumours restaurant, and is a popular place with the real estate crowd. Also Luca told me, many restaurant chefs come along for a drink after work, as it is ideally situated.

Free wi-fi in Seminyak Bali
Free wi-fi sounds like a dream come true, and it is certainly a benefit to a lot of people. In the last year many places have installed a wi-fi system, sometimes charging for it, other times not. One business owner asked me my thoughts on charging for wi-fi. I told him the primary attraction of wi-fi for users , is the ability to use their own machine. Secondary consideration is speed, third, location / cost. If you ask a guy with a laptop to choose between a free place, that is slow, or a place that charges, but has a fast connection, he’ll end up at the second place. Maybe not straight away, but eventually. I have been using Joulla’s on Jl. Dhyana Pura in Seminyak. Joulla’s is a German restaurant, that also does Indo food.

My schedule was going to be tight, with an invite to Fresh starting at 8pm and another invite to Jenggala at 7.30rp. Fresh is located on Jl. Oberoi, past Rumours and Trattoria, hang a left around the bend and its there on your right.

Saturday night in Seminyak Bali
Saturday night in Bali for me, was spent in the company of Elias from NYC (the Big Apple) and Darvis from England. Elias is a super smart guy working for a corporation in Jakarta. Once again we hit Warung Italia on Blue Ocean beach, which has a really great location. My main course (ravioli ) was 28,000rp, the manager was attentive as were the staff and all in we all, we enjoyed ourselves.
