Bali Legian Shopping

Azizah Shop: Legian Bali

Down from Jl. Double Six on Jl. Legian is are a few clothes shops all cranking out their own style. One of the ones I visited was Azizah Shop. Its visible by the bright lime green paint job outside and stocks among other things, an array of bell bottom pants for 185,000rp (retail, 120,000rp wholesale).

DHL: The place for speedy shipping in Legian Bali

DHL has opened a new shop on Jl. Legian in Legian. Not having to shop stuff myself I often overlook these places. DHL is the world leader in speedy international delivery. I have used their services to receive things in Bali in th past and everything arrived okay.

Interview with Endang in 2 Seasons Lifestyle in Legian Bali

Many of the handicraft shops I visit in Kuta and the fancier interior decoration shops in Legian and Seminyak have staff from other parts of Indonesia. I visited 2 Seasons Lifestyle, a small shop on Jl. Legian in Legian and interviewed Endang from Sumbawa, the next island after Lombok to the east. Endang seemed quite positive about living in Bali and spoke about the economy of the shop. Bali gets a lot of Japanese visitors and there are specially themed shops that appeal to their needs.

Jl. Double Six in Legian Bali

street062005.jpgOne of the busiest streets in Legian / Seminyak is Jl. Double Six. It run perpendicular to the beach and connects Jl. Legian to Jl. Arjuna. The narrow winding street is lined with shops selling a never-ending selection of sarongs, flashy / holiday style clothes, accessories, hats and handicrafts. During the daytime the street is very busy with traffic, all pushing its way through and causing blockages. The traffic problem has been helped greatly by the new regulation that forces traffic to exit this dead-end street via Jl. Padma Utara. Motorbikes can still drive both ways. Double Six, which actually Jl. Arjuna, was unofficially re-named after the large nightclub that occupies a beach side spot at the end of the road.

Fruit shop on Jl. Legian in Legian

Those people who love fresh fruits have a handy place on Jl. Legian. Close to the junction of Jl. Double Six is a small locally owned fruit and veg shop. They sell papaya, pineapple, melon, oranges, apple, watermelon and bananas.

Swimsuit Indonesia: Blue Glue in Legian Bali

Monday afternoon I visited Blue Glue on Jl. Double Six in Legian. Blue Glue is a premium swimwear shop that produces some cute little bikinis. The staff member Kadek didn’t really understand my questions, so our interview got terminated, but if you are looking for a sexy, original bikini, come here. Blue Glue is open Mon-Sat from 9am-6pm. I checked out th price on a bikini and it was 329,000rp, though I was told you can bargain. This is a sign of the times, plenty of stressed inventory. If you walk in there when they have no other customers, pick up 6 bikinis and offer them an amount, you might get a good deal.

Silver Boat: Interesting silver jewelry in Legian Bali

silver_boat080805.jpgBali has many fine shops selling ornaments, decorations and jewelry. Today I stopped by CV. Silver Boat in Legian which is a shop that specializes in silver jewelry. CV. Silver Boat is located on the right side of Jl. Legian as you go up to Seminyak and is next to the Pura Agung Desa Adat Legian temple. When I visited there were 3 staff and they told me the shop is open from 10am-9pm. I liked the way this place was laid out and decorated, simple, but way more attractive than 90% of the shops I see. The staff told me the shop was Balinese owned and that the jewelry was made in Bali. Items used are silver, shells and various types of rocks (don't you love my in depth analysis?).
