Eiger Adventure equipment
Indonesia has its own brand of camping equipment called Eiger Adventure. This company is based in Bandung Java and has been around since 1990. Camping, hiking and backpacking are not as popular in Indonesia as it is in Europe, the USA and Australia. Still for someone who wants to give it a try and pick up some useful gear, this company provides and affordable option.

Guitars in Matahari Kuta Square
This afternoon it clouded over and threatened to pour. Stopping at Matahari department store in Kuta Square, I went to the sporting goods section on the 3rd floor for a soft guitar case. My neighbor, Barbara from England, is learning guitar and gave me encouragement to take lessons. Getting my guitar around on my motorbike would be hard, because my hard case has 1 ’suitcase handle’ and weighs half a ton.

Omahara - Paintings Art Shop
Omahata art shop is located on Jl. Singasari in Kuta. The small shop is staffed by one lady, Wayan, who has a small daughter 1.5 years. Wayan told me her husband is the organizer of the business, but he doesn’t paint the art, it comes from various artists in Ubud, Kintamani and Kuta areas. Wayan said most of the artwork on sale is modern abstract and all the paintings on sale can be rolled up, to fit comfortably in luggage. Among the paintings on display, was a wave painting, with palm tress in the distance, giving that ’surf Indo’ memory to whoever buys it. Omahara is open from 8am-10pm daily.

Pasar Seni Kuta Bali
Pasar Seni Kuta (Kuta Art Market) is located between Kuta Square / Jl.Kartika Plaza and the beach. Its quite a large area and has rows of stalls, selling the same stuff you’ll find all over Kuta. The idea ‘if it works for your neighbor, copy it’, has been fully blown out in this neighborhood and most people are twiddling their thumbs, due to the downturn in tourism. Wandering the art market today I did see some wooden clocks, that were in the shape of a giant wrist watch, quite clever. There were hanging Jesus’s, picture carvings with elephants, 4ft long carved lizards painted in Aboriginal motifs, Hawaiian shirts, baseball hats, surf shorts, Bintang t-shirts and mess-topped bamboo food dishes.

Kuta Kidz: Clothing for youngsters in Kuta Bali
Kuta Kidz is a cute little shop on Jl. Singosari (although the business card says Jl. Taman Griya). It sells modern clothing for kids aged from 1 to 12 years. When I stopped by, the shop was quiet, and the staff member was eager to show me various items. The clothing appeared to be of a good quality and marketing it as a brand is a good idea. The company website gives a more thorough rundown of the goods on offer. I was tempted to pick up something for Jevon, but he has enough clothes and I’m not sure exactly how he compares with the age-sizing in this shop.
