Beaches at Padangbai Bali

Padangbai is a quiet fishing village in East Bali. When I visited back in 1993, it was very popular with divers and backpackers. The main attraction of Padangbai, is its rustic character. Bamboo guest houses, complete with cold water showers, wooden floors and mosquito nets, all for a low price.

Art in Klungkung Bali: Kamesan village and Art Center

Balinese painting has gone through a number of stages in its development, one of which is the wayang style. The wayang style draws its inspration from the wayang kulit ’shadow puppets’, that are an important part of the Balinese culture. The wayang style of painting tends to be a flat depiction of these ‘puppet like figures’, involved in scenes from the Indian epics, the Ramayana and Mahabharata.

North-Central Bali: What to do on a 3 day trip.

North Bali is a part of the island most people don’t visit. I
mean out of every 100, maybe 5 take a trip to the north coast
while on holiday. If you do go to the North-Central part of Bali,
what’s up there?

East Bali: Lipah beach

East Bali is probably the closest thing a tourist will got to the ‘real Bali’. To be honest, tourists aren’t looking for the ‘real Bali’ anymore than they would want a ‘deserted beach’. We’re looking for postcard landscapes, with elegant locals…and enough creature comforts to keep us happy. East Bali has all these and the Amed area, locateon the far SE coast is a very laid back, tranquil area.

Visiting Besakih temple Bali

Besakih is known as the ‘Mother Temple’ in Bali. The largest and most important temple on the island, it sits on the western slopes of Gunung Agung. I visited Pura Besakih in 2003, along with 6 Balinese people and had a good experience. Visitors to Bali will be offered a trip to Besakih temple, by touts and streetside travel agents in Kuta and other places. Your experience may not turn out exactly as you had imagined though.
