Bali Ubud Hotels

Cool places to stay in South Ubud

Ubud is a cool place to stay for a relaxing few days. Assuming you can escape the main drag and get to the outer lying areas, take a rice field hike and enjoy an art class, the world is your oyster.

Eco luxury in Indonesia

Indonesia has some of the world’s best hotels, including the Four Seasons Sayan and the Amandari, both in Ubud. If you look hard enough you can also find small, boutique hotels that offer something quite unique. One of these is the Losari Coffee Plantation in Central Java.

Linda Garland’s house in Nyuhkuning Bali

Cafe Lotus and an arak madu set me off in a wonderful mood. Checking my guide book I wanted to see what was going on in a quiet corner of Ubud called Nyuhkuning. This village is located at the bottom end of the Monkey Forest and can also be accessed by heading down Jl. Hanuman, continuing straight and taking a right turn. Nyuhkuning is known for its woodcarving and one of the places I wanted to see was the Widya Kusuma Woodcarving Museum.

Jati guesthouse: Jl. Hanuman Ubud Bali

jati071105.JPGArriving in Ubud via a lovely route, I swung down through Jl. Raya Ubud, and then took a right turn down Jl. Hanuman, the downhill street that is lined with craft shops and home stays. I have stayed at a couple of places down here before and know they are fairly cheap, ideal in fact for someone who wants to access the downtown scene, like I do. My reason for coming to Ubud is to stay for few days and document more fully the accommodation scene and some of the highlights.

Taking a wet ride to Ubud Bali

ubud areaFriend’s of mine from Oregon, recently visited me, here in Bali. During our time in Ubud, they elected to stay at the Pradha hotel, at the bottom of Jl. Kajeng, which is centrally located in downtown Ubud, next to the Royal Palace on Jl. Raya Ubud. Another friend is coming out on the 31st of this month, who also wants a few nights in the same hotel. Trouble was, the online rates were considerably higher than the 225,000rp we got. My friend asked me if I would go to Ubud, and try to get the same rates for her.

Bali’s hotels are the best in the world

Bali’s hotels are the best in the world. That is according to another independent international survey. Last year Travel & Leisure Magazine rated the Four Seasons Sayan as the best hotel in the world, with Bali as the best island in the world.
