Finding a unique hotel for that special occasion can be difficult with all the choices out there. One website that is geared towards helping you do that is Directory of Hotels.com.
Friend’s of mine from Oregon, recently visited me, here in Bali. During our time in Ubud, they elected to stay at the Pradha hotel, at the bottom of Jl. Kajeng, which is centrally located in downtown Ubud, next to the Royal Palace on Jl. Raya Ubud. Another friend is coming out on the 31st of this month, who also wants a few nights in the same hotel. Trouble was, the online rates were considerably higher than the 225,000rp we got. My friend asked me if I would go to Ubud, and try to get the same rates for her.
Anytime I go to Nusa Dua, I get a strange feeling I have transported to Beverly Hills. All of a sudden Balinese locals disappear and manicured grass verges replace the broken sidewalks. At the southern end of Jimbaran sit the Intercontinental and Four Seasons hotels. They’ve picked the choice part of the Bay no doubt. The beach is nicer, there are no fishing boats, and you can see the tracks left in the sand, by the people who rake the high-tide line in the morning. From the beach looking inland, you can see how they have created their version of the tropical fantasy, complete with nice stone work, beach-side bales and thatched Balinese roofs. I spotted a couple, enjoying themselves in a sea kayak and others in a small ‘lazer’ sailing boat.
Here is a short guide to accommodation in Sanur, featuring budget, mid-range and luxury accommodation options.
Bali can be the land of adventure if you want it to be. For people who do not like guest houses
and a backpack, but similarly don’t want 14 nights in a resort in Nusa Dua, there is an answer. The Waka Experience offers soft-adventure resort tourism in Bali.
Bali has a vast array of guest houses, hotels and resorts catering to all kinds of people. Seminyak has one hotel that has a definite tilt towards Christians, the Dhyana Pura Hotel.
Seminyak is the epicenter of the expat scene in Bali. As well as trendy boutiques and restaurants, there are great villas. Downtown Villas, is a collection of 9 luxury villas, located across the street from Bintang supermarket, behind, Jl. Seminyak.
My friend Toby is out here in Bali from Oregon. I’m pretty much his tour guide (my bill comes later!) and with that in mind chose where we went. Having Ika & Jevon along, meant our range of options was somewhat limited. I don’t want to spend a ton on accommodation, Toby wants and AC room, with a pool if possible and the kids of course don’t care to visit cultural places. My strategy was, jump on the Kusamba Bypass and head straight to Candi Dasa. The 3 main things that everybody wants (a toilet, food and a place to sleep) can be found there in abundance.
