Nusa Dua is almost a mirage, set on the eastern side of the Bukit peninsula. The BTDC (Bali Tourism Development Corporation was set up in 1972 to develop low quality land into luxury accommodation. The Nusa Dua complex was built in 1984. Nusa Dua feels different from the rest of Bali and is accessed by one of 3 main gates, marked by enormous candi bentars (Balinese split gates). Upon entering one will notice finely kept lawns and well made roads and sidewalks. One will also notice the absence of Balinese locals, except for those working in the area.

Bali’s hotels are the best in the world. That is according to another independent international survey. Last year Travel & Leisure Magazine rated the Four Seasons Sayan as the best hotel in the world, with Bali as the best island in the world.

Conrad voted best hotel in Bali
Conrad hotel Bali offers American style luxury and service. Its precisely that, combined with the biggest lagoon pool I have ever seen, that earned it the title of 'Indonesia's Leading Resort'. Visiting the property a couple of things struck me. I really like the simple, easy to use design of the place, including the restaurants and rooms. Everything is large, from the width of the pathways, to the size of the shower doors. Balinese decoration is kept to a minimum, but that’s okay, I can take only so much 'Bali style' at one time.

The Conrad hotel in Benoa, close to Nusa Dua has been voted one of the best new hotels in the world by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. The magazine has an annual Hot List and the latest version came out this month.
