Ned’s Hideaway: Seminyak Bali
Ned’s Hideaway is a guest house in Seminyak, that offers easy access to everything, for a low price. Located on Gang Bima, Ned’s is a 5 minute walk to the beach, 5 minutes from Bintang supermarket, 30 seconds from Jl. Seminyak, 2 minutes from the party scene and 15 minutes from Kuta by taxi. Ned’s has 10 fan rooms for 80,000rp night and 3 AC rooms for 150,000rp per night (prices vary with season). Checking out the place today, I met Agung, the owner, who was sitting in the restaurant / bar.

Inada Losman: An affordable place to stay in Seminyak Bali
Seminyak is the center of the expat scene in Bali and has a wonderful array of accommodation, restaurants and nightlife. It's also on the beach making it a cool place to stay. For people not wanting to pay $40 and up for a room there are budget options including the place Andy Walker stayed at recently, the Inada Losman on Gang Bima. I have walked passed Inada hundreds of times and have seen young travelers and surfers arriving. Inada is staffed by Balinese people but is obviously Japanese focused, with a large collection of Japanese books in the bookcase out front.

Looking for a cheap hotel in Bali
Bali has 20,000 hotel rooms supposedly. Today is December 20th, which is high-season. That means prices are increased and rooms are harder to get. My friends from Oregon wanted to change hotels this morning. The Puri Cendana in Seminyak was nice, but they didn’t want to pay the 300,000rp price tag. Their combined requirements were, a cheaper place, close to the beach, AC, pool, double beds. At 7.30am I took the car back to the shop on Jl. Padma Utara, and walked home. Arriving at the Puri Cendana an hour later, Ollie and I jumped on my motorbike for a tour of the accommodation in Legian and Kuta. I had some places in mind, but he wanted to see the rooms.

Jl. Double Six in Legian Bali
One of the busiest streets in Legian / Seminyak is Jl. Double Six. It run perpendicular to the beach and connects Jl. Legian to Jl. Arjuna. The narrow winding street is lined with shops selling a never-ending selection of sarongs, flashy / holiday style clothes, accessories, hats and handicrafts. During the daytime the street is very busy with traffic, all pushing its way through and causing blockages. The traffic problem has been helped greatly by the new regulation that forces traffic to exit this dead-end street via Jl. Padma Utara. Motorbikes can still drive both ways. Double Six, which actually Jl. Arjuna, was unofficially re-named after the large nightclub that occupies a beach side spot at the end of the road.
