Hi Guys - I havent logged on to your site for over a week - love the new look. Also huge thanks to Barrie for the wealth of information he has included in the blog during Nick’s absence. I would never have otherwise found out about the rotary club jewelery ( I have made direct enquiries to the club about purchasing a braclet) and the excellent work the club does for the more remote areas of Bali. Keep it all coming.
Kind regards
leanneb

Barrie, you have done a great job during Nick’s absence; however, I was wondering when Nick would commence his daily comments. I live in Ubud, actually Campuhan, however, have been in Seattle, Wa for a while. Love reading this site, on a daily basis to keep myself up-to-date with goings on in Bali while I am gone.

Dear Nick and Barrie:
I’m truly shocked that my commentary actually was received by you guys. In the past I’ve attempted to correspond with Baliblog, but, to no avail.
Apparently, “I’v come a long way baby” ha ha. Today, I was longing to be back in Bali, however, when I parused your blog, I was overjoyed to see so many subjects addressed by Nick. His article regarding his families trip to the UK was so enjoyable to read. I’m elated you will be returning to Bali soon! Additionally, I loved reading Nick’s article concerning everything he missed pertaining to life in Bali hmmmmm.
I could not help joting down my minds reflections of all I sooo much long for in my “heaven on earth”.
Lastly, I noticed you mentioned various places to stay while in Ubud, and I have a bungalow which I built and would love to advertise with you guys. Located only five minutes from the art community of Ubud, two minutes from Antonio Blanco’s Estate, and the quaint nite life of Ubud, Jazz Cafe, Exile, Putra Bar, Say Say Bar, and Funkie Monkey. Across the street from a beautiful hike into the rice fields which winds past a majestic Temple and Campuhan River. Great warungs abound, and unbelivable restaurants with great prices, architecture, and views to die for. My bungalow is perched high above the winding champuan river. The patio overlooks red tiled rooftops and a lush green lanscape of terraced rice fields to your right, Antonio Blanco’s Estate which houses a large dome, with his wife’s statuesque figure encirclling the dome. Truly a beautiful sight. I met both Antonio on several occasions and his wife before his passing and they were very lovely people. The bungalow includes a delicious breakfast prepared by Puspa who has worked at Murni’s directly down the street forever. She, in my opinion makes the best jafful (spelling) in Bali. The bungalow is a beautiful bedroom with bamboo walls, ceiling fan, large window which looks out onto the veranda. The bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom, lovely with western style bathtub, toilet, and beautiful tile on floor and up the wall. Japanese window frames the bathroom that overlooks a small pond. Hot and cold water, with shower. The second bungalow can house three or four guests. Please contact me on how much it would cost etc. Thanks jud

I am hoping someone can help me with organising a helper (nanny/babysitter) and driver for my family when we come to Bali in October. My daughter has a moderate intellectual disability and we were hoping to be able to pay someone to come with us on our travels to allow us some time alone. I\’m not suggesting all day say a few hours in the morning and maybe a dinner out etc. I would like the same person if possible so we can establish a rapport/relationship with them. We are planning 1 night Seminyak, 3 nights Ubud, 5 nights Pemuratan then back to Seminyak for 5 nights. Am I pushing my luck to ask someone to come with us? What sort of cost would be involved? Same applies for a driver. Any contacts or suggestions would be appreciated.

great site, and I always open this first each day.

The public holidays list is very handy, for the remaining four months of this year, but I’m planning a holiday to Bali for next year. As I arrived last time on the eve of Hari Nyepi and had to walk a long way to my hotel as the taxis had stopped, I’d like to avoid this next time.

Any chance of a 2007 Public Holidays list being posted soon?
