The Swiss bel Hotel Bali AGA is a luxury hotel set in the grounds of the Nusa Dua complex. The hotel although small for a resort packs in a lot of elements such as large lobby, restaurant, bar, 2 pools, fitness center, spa and private beach. This hotel is perfect fro those who like comfort but without going to a huge hotel.
The atmosphere at the Swiss AGA is peaceful friendliness. Being an upscale hotel is Nusa Dua the Swiss is a beautiful hotel to look at and because it only has 61 rooms isn’t an overpowering giant like some of the others. The driveway and front of the hotel are similar to many of the other upscale places with large traditional roof over the lobby and reception area, staff wear traditional outfits and the whole place is open air. However the nice thing about the Swiss is that the reception desk is small and it tucked away on the right side, the floors are white marble and there are Balinese elements all over ranging from a gamelan orchestra, a horse drawn carriage, door carvings and carved chairs. It’s a very uplifting and relaxing place.
The Swiss AGA is located in the Peminge area of Nusa Dua on the SE side of the Bukit peninsula. It is situated next to the Bali Golf and Country Club. It is only 20 minutes from the airport and 30 minutes from Kuta.
Driving in you get the feeling you are staying at a country club type place and this whole part of Nusa Dua was design for resorts, with the shopping area ( The Galleria ) only 5 minutes away and a the Beach Club also only 5 minutes by shuttle bus.
The area around the hotel is a large manicured set of roads that lead to the 20 other hotels in the area.
This hotel offers guests a fairly luxurious place to relax and get away from daily life. The lobby is designed in traditional style with a large open air roof made from alang alang and bamboo, the floors made of white marble and the atmosphere finished off by staff in costume and many cultural items such as carved chairs, gamelan orchestra set and artwork which decorate the lobby.
Behind the lobby 2 rows of rooms each 3-storey extend directly back, with 2 swimming pools, garden and patio restaurant filling the space in between.
Rooms are large, bright and well appointed with stereo system, TV, fridge desk and couch.
The hotel comes complete with Spa and Beach Club and offers a free shuttle to the Galleria and Beach Club.
All the staff wear elements of traditional costume and seemed quite friendly. Having only 61 rooms the staff at the Swiss AGA have more time to stop and talk to guests. I saw one manager sharing jokes with a family and get the feeling this hotel, while luxurious is the kind of place where a guest can get to know some of the staff.
My host Rasna was very friendly and shared her own travel experiences with me.
I noticed the hotel’s pools looks amazing blue and this was attractive. I then noticed that the water seemed to be colored blue. I’ve seen this effect before in small spa type pools but never for the larger swimming pools.
This hotel is unique because it offers a high level of luxury, is designed to be modern yet traditional and is small enough where it is not anonymous. The bright and airy lobby, complete with carved chairs really is a great place to sit and relax.
The Swiss also boasts its own private beach club 5 minutes away.
The Swiss is located in Nusa Dua so for the person who wants to get away from daily life, be pampered, enjoy plenty of creature comforts, but also have the chance to feel some kind of personal service this would work.
The beach is only 5 minutes away by shuttle bus and the Spa offers traditional health practices.
The location in Nusa Dua is perfect for relaxing and getting away from it all but that comes at a price, both financially and culturally. This isn’t a budget option and your interaction with locals will be at a minimum compared to other places on the island such as Kuta, Legian, Sanur.
If I wanted a cheaper place or a more local feel I’d stay somewhere else.

Manager: Resna Savitri
The sales manager of Swiss AGA is Resna Savitri from Kalimantan. She has worked here for 1 ? years and started out in guest relations.
Resna told me that the Swiss was built 1998, is built with a boutique style with a Balinese roof that covers the lobby and reception. The roof is made from alang alang and bamboo. Resna said the lobby area was designed to be friendly and spacious.
The hotel has 60 rooms and 1 cottage, which extend in 2 rows directly back form the rear of the lobby. The central space between being occupied by the patio restaurant and 2 swimming pools.
Resna said that the floors of the rooms are made of bamboo with natural color. She also said that the hotel has a lot of facilities for only 61 rooms, including Spa, restaurant, 2 pools, fitness center, meeting rooms and private Beach Club.
I asked her about the guest profile and she said the Swiss is popular with families, older people, young people and honeymooners?people who want a total break from daily life.
Each room comes equipped with IDD telephone and dial up internet access and is an ideal place for a businessman to work from.
Resna said that 60% of guests come from Europe, 16% from Asia, with the US and South Africa about 1-2% each. Honeymooners from Europe like the hotel especially.
I asked what were the highlights of the location and Resna said the Bali Golf and Country Club is only 2 minutes away with special deals for guests as well as transport, the Galleria is 5-10 minutes by free shuttle bus, the Beach Club is 5 minutes,
Getting to the airport will take 20 minutes and Kuta 30 minutes.
I asked Resna about restaurants and nightlife and she said guests can walk down to Jalan Pantai Mengiat which is only a few mintues away where there are many restaurants. For nightlife guests will have to go to Kuta as Nusa Dua really doesn’t have nightlife outside of the hotels.
My last question to Resna was what she would say to a person thinking of staying at the Swiss and she said, ?This hotel is relaxing because it is a small hotel, staff can recognise you, make contact with you and this helps the guests to relax.
